PROLA is complete and goes back to 1893!

An extraordinary amount of physics content is available through the American Physical Society's (APS) Physical Review Online Archive, PROLA, which is undergoing exciting changes. Our PROLA Project Manager, Mark Doyle, posted the new version online on Sunday evening January 7th. In addition to new content, there are improvements to PROLA's functionality and interface. Highlights include:

  • The inclusion of APS journals from 1997 (PROLA contains all material more than three years old, while the current subscriptions to Physical Review, Physical Review Letters and Reviews of Modern Physics include online access through OJPS to the more recent papers). Additional content, going back in time, will be added regularly.
  • 1981-1997 volumes of Physical Review, Physical Review Letters, and Reviews of Modern Physics are now available in PROLA.
  • Pre-1985 material has been scanned at 600 dpi - making files both larger and of much higher quality. APS is continuing to work on alternatives to reduce the size of the files.
